Care for your Colored Hair

LET’S FACE IT! Women and men use color in their hair. Many of us LOVE to color our hair. Whether it’s to cover up gray roots, gray hair, for a natural polished shine, or just to have a fun vibrant color! 

Personally, my natural hair color is very dull and I have a gray streak in the front! Not sexy! I use a very natural shade for color and shine. Coloring my hair hasn’t caused it to dry or brittle over time. In fact, it’s hydrated, and rapidly growing thanks to Real Hair Smoothie’s vegan product line for natural hair & Chi Ionic Color Lock Treatment as my final conditioning step!

Most people that color their hair experience dry, brittle hair. Here are some things you can do to improve dry hair from colored or processed hair.

Make time to take care of your hair. You make time to take care of your health and body, don’t forget to take care of your hair.

Tips for Hydrating Color Hair:

  • Don’t shampoo your hair daily. This can be very drying.
  • Use all-natural hair treatments to deep condition your hair. Use deep conditioning treatments at least twice or once a month. My FAVORITE is Real Hair Smoothie deep conditioning treatments. They are made with real vegan foods, amino acid proteins, and essential oils. I leave it on for at least 30 mins, no longer than 45 mins!
  • If you’re busy and don’t have the time to treat your hair, at least do it a few days before you get your hair colored. This will help to strengthen your hair bonds and reduce breakage, prior to them being broken down from hair color.
  • Use products that don’t contain drying alcohols.
  • Don’t forget to follow up every shampoo and conditioner with a color lock treatment. My FAVORITE is “Chi Ionic Color Lock Treatment.” It helps me to retain my hair color, thus having to color it less often!
